The Lowndes County woman indicted for killing her husband on Facebook Live has pleaded guilty to second-degree murder.
Kadejah Michelle Brown, 29, appeared in front of a judge on Friday and was sentenced to 40 years for the murder of her husband Jeremy Brown, 28. Kadejah will serve 34 years behind bars with the final six years being on supervised release.
On the morning of March 26, 2023, officers responded to a domestic violence call at the Greentree Apartments in Columbus. Upon arriving, they found Jeremy who was pronounced dead at the scene with a single gunshot wound. Police also recovered a handgun inside the apartment unit.
Kadejah was charged after it was discovered that the shooting had been captured on social media. The two had gotten into an argument before the weapon was discharged by Kadejah as Jeremy attempted to leave the unit. Lowndes County Sheriff Eddie Hawkins noted at the time that both Kadejah and Jeremy had a previous record of domestic violence.
“There was a history of domestic violence between Brown and the victim,” Hawkins said at the time. “This was a tragic and senseless murder, and our thoughts and prayers go out to the family of the victim.”
The Facebook Live records as Kadejah and Jeremy begin to argue. The screen then goes black, although the audio can still be heard as Jeremy attempts to leave the apartment. As the two continue arguing, Kadejah picks up the 9mm handgun and fires it, shooting Jeremy in the head.
Kadejah is heard on Facebook Live saying, “Oh my God,” and “I didn’t know it was loaded,” as her children scream, “DADDY!” in the background. Kadejah screams for help.
