Oh boy. Selena Gomez and Hailey Bieber evidently put their rumored dispute behind them as they photographed together at the 2022 Academy Museum Gala only four months ago. But now, Gomez has declared she’s taking a social media hiatus in the aftermath of some TikTok drama that occurred as a result of a lot of fan conjecture (again). Let’s analyze this odd exchange between two celebrities.
It all began with a TikTok video that Rivet Soro, or @riristea, posted on January 7. She shared a TikTok that Bieber had previously removed swiftly. It features Justin Bieber, Kendall Jenner, and Justine Skye lip-syncing to the song “And I’m Not Saying She Deserved It,” which is a hit. Soro pondered whether this was a covert message to someone, though she made no assumptions as to who. On January 7, Bieber addressed the assertion, stating in the remarks, “We were simply having a girls night and made a random tik tok sound for fun; I never comment on things like this. None of them are the target of it.”
The drama heated up again on 22 Feb. when a TikTok account called @devotedly.yours made a new claim that Bieber and Kylie Jenner were shading Gomez on social. Gomez had made a TikTok video about how she’d “accidentally” overlaminated her brows. Kylie posted a selfie on Instagram shortly after, captioned, “this was an accident???” She also posted a screenshot of a FaceTime call with Bieber where both of their faces were close to the camera. The TikTok user speculated they were making fun of Gomez’s brow blunder.
Kylie commented on the TikTok, writing, “This is reaching. no shade toward selena ever and i didn’t see her eyebrow posts! u guys are making something out of nothing. this is silly.” Gomez replied, writing, “Agreed @kyliejenner it’s all unnecessary. I’m a fan of Kylie.”
