The assistant has written for the recently released anthology Golden Youth: An Intimate Account of Growing Up in the Royal Family, by biographer Tom Quinn.
The author discusses how Markle, 41, reportedly had a difficult time adjusting to royal life after she wed Prince Harry in 2018.
The Duchess of Sussex was “overwhelmed by the global prominence that being a princess would bring,” according to a book excerpt that appeared in the Mirror.
She disliked being compared to Middleton, who is 41, though.
“She disliked the limits and rules; She detested being a second-rate princess — second only to Katherine Middleton, I mean,” the book states. The paragraph adds, “What she disliked most was that she had to do what she was told and go where she was told on the interminable and mostly futile royal tour.

Despite Middleton receiving the same treatment, Markle reportedly got “somewhat condescending” treatment from The Firm for not being a blood queen.
But, the Duchess of Cambridge “doesn’t have Meghan’s messianic leanings” and can handle the royal establishment better than the former actress, the adviser believes.
“Keep in mind that Meghan’s ambition knows no limitations, and like most incredibly ambitious people, she never questions whether she got what she wanted,'” they add.Kate Middleton, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry stand on the balcony of Buckingham Palace during the Trooping The Color ceremony on June 9, 2018. The rep describes Markle as a “very nice, smiling, super positive person,” but suspects she struggled with not being able to control her own life after joining the royals.
The staffer also explains that Markle had a hard time being a part of the long-running institution in which she had no influence. She was also reportedly upset that her residence would be in Nottingham Cottage in the grounds of Kensington Palace when she thought she would be living in Windsor Castle

Markle and her husband Prince Harry made the decision in January 2020 to step down as senior members of the royal family. Later in March they moved to California.
Harry, 38, and the mother-of-two could travel back to the UK on May 6, when King Charles is officially crowned monarch during his coronation.
