Barbra Streisand describes the first thing she said to her husband, James Brolin, upon their first meeting

When Barbra Streisand first met James Brolin, she did not conceal her feelings.

In a new cover story for Vanity Fair’s November issue, which reaches newsstands on October 17, the 81-year-old singer and actress recalled the first time she met Brolin, 83, and what she said to him.

According to the publication, Streisand asked her future husband, who had just shaved his head for a role, “Who f—ed up your hair?” during their first encounter.

However, Vanity Fair reported that Brolin was not offended by her question and that the duo spent the remainder of the evening together.

At a dinner party with mutual acquaintances, including Streisand’s ex-boyfriend Jon Peters, Streisand and Brolin first met.

“We were set up on a blind date, and I was so shy that I went downstairs to play with the children until I had to sit down at the table,” Streisand explained during an appearance on The Tonight Show in 2021.

During that appearance, she also criticized Brolin’s hair, telling Jimmy Fallon, “I expected a guy with a brown beard and brown, wavy hair, like a mountain man.”

“And I saw a man that had all his hair cut off, no beard. And I passed him by. I ran my hand through his hair and asked, “Who messed it up?” She persisted.
