Beginning at Number One on the charts, ‘Pink Friday 2’ by Nicki Minaj creates history

According to Billboard, Pink Friday 2, which features Nick Minaj, debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 albums chart on December 23.

Following 2012’s Roman Reloaded and 2011’s Pink Friday, this is her third consecutive number-one album, making her the female rapper with the most such accomplishments to date.

According to Luminate, Pink Friday 2 debuted in the United States with 228,000 equivalent albums earned in the week ending December 14.

Pink Friday 2 not only becomes the most-topped female rapper in history but also has the most-streamed week of any rap album by a female in the 2020s and the most-streamed R&B/Hip-hop album of the year. Furthermore, the album’s vinyl sales are noteworthy, totaling 25,000 copies and representing the most successful week for a female-led rap album since Luminate began electronically monitoring sales in 1991.

A multitude of artists are represented on the album, such as Lil Wayne, Drake, Future, and Lil Uzi Vert. Three main singles preceded the album: “Super Freaky Girl,” which debuted in 2022; “Red Ruby Da Sleeze,” which debuted in March; and “Last Time I Saw You,” which was released in September.

Four additional tracks were added to the 22-track album, which she supplemented with the announcement of a “Beep Beep” remix featuring 50 Cent. Minaj is scheduled to commence a tour across North America in March. The tour will commence at Oakland Arena in Oakland, California, on March 1, and will continue throughout the spring before concluding on May 12 at Moody Center in Austin, Texas. Following that, she embarks on a series of summer engagements in Europe.
