Events commemorating Martin Luther King Jr. Day are taking place all throughout the Dallas-Fort Worth area

To honor the life and work of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., North Texas will once more hold a celebration.

Martin Luther King Jr. Day is a holiday that honors the birthday of the late civil rights icon.

Monday, January 15, 2024 is the day that coincides with the cherished holiday this year. The holiday is always close to his birthday, which was January 15, 1929, and because it is actually regarded a “day on” rather than a “day off,” you might be looking for ways to celebrate, educate, or perhaps volunteer in the community. His birthday was on January 15, 1929.

The following is a list of events and activities that are taking place all across the Dallas-Fort Worth area:

In Arlington, we are celebrating the 35th anniversary of Dr. King’s dream being brought to life.

One or more of the following events will be celebrated over the course of four days:

Tuesday, January 14, at six o’clock. M.L.K. Ecumenical Service performed by Hubert Moss
Jan. 15 at 9 a.m. Chief Zeb Strong Jr. M.L.K. First Day of Service
At ten o’clock on January 15th. Celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. Day of Service
At six o’clock on January 15th. The Martin Luther King Jr. Youth Extravaganza

The MLK Historical Timeline Exhibit will be on display at each event from January 12 through January 15, or it can be viewed online at ArlingtonMLK.com.

10:00 a.m. on January 15th. The parade that is held annually will be held by the City of Dallas.

At ten o’clock in the morning, the Parade will begin at the intersection of Holmes Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. It will then travel approximately one mile down Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, arriving at Fair Park as its conclusion.

Obtain tickets for the 41st Black Music and the Civil Rights Movement Concert, which will take place on January 14 at 7:30 p.m.

The 15th of January, from three to six o’clock. “Living the Dream: It Starts With Me — Spreading Hope, Courage, and Unity” was the theme of the Martin Luther King Jr. program that was inspired by this concept.

WEALTH OF FORT
The Martin Luther King Jr. Parade and Celebration will take place on January 13 at 11:00 a.m. The William M. McDonald YMCA will serve as the launching point for all of the community and student groups that will march through southeast Fort Worth. An event that will include food, activities, and speakers will take place at Village Creek Park, where the parade will come to a close.

PRAIRIE, GRAND INN
Thursday, January 15 at 8:00 a.m. Celebration and parade honoring Martin Luther King, Jr. The Grand Prairie City Hall serves as the starting point for a parade that then proceeds to David Daniels Elementary School. At David Daniels Elementary School, there will be a celebration that will honor community leaders and showcase the talents of students from the Grand Prairie Independent School District. Following the conclusion of the seminar, participants will be provided with a complimentary lunch.

OBSERVATIONS CONCERNING THE PASSAGE OF MARTIN LUTHER KING JR.

A celebration of Martin Luther King Jr. will be place on Saturday, January 13th. At this year’s event, the Dallas Black Dance Theatre and Kamica King will be performing a variety of artistic and musical performances, including dance, singing, poetry, and art.

Parade honoring Martin Luther King Jr. and a celebration of the community At ten o’clock in the morning, the parade will begin at Mesquite High School, which is located at the intersection of South Bryan Belt Line Road and East Gross Street. Wednesday, January 13, at one o’clock. Celebration of the Community Takes Place at the Mesquite Arts Center The commemoration of Dr. King’s accomplishments continued with a community meeting that was co-hosted by the Mesquite Independent School District, the City of Mesquite, and the Mesquite NAACP. The gathering took place at the Mesquite Arts Center, which is situated at 1527 N. Galloway Ave.

PLANO Jan. 18 at 7 a.m. As part of the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Diversity Celebration, the Plano Independent School District will highlight student performances, writing, and artwork.
