If the investigation into the explosion that occurred on Monday at a hotel in downtown Fort Worth determines that it was caused by a natural gas leak, then the occurrence would be part of an increasing trend of similar incidents around the country, according to watchdog groups that are involved in the energy sector monitoring the industry.

An official cause has not been identified for the enormous explosion that occurred at the Sandman Signature Hotel, which resulted in the injuries of twenty-one individuals.

However, authorities from the Fort Worth Fire Department have stated that it is highly likely that the explosion was caused by gas, and representatives from Atmos Energy, a natural gas distributor based in Dallas, have confirmed their presence at the scene.
