Back at Google I/O, Google made the announcement that Google Home would soon support Bluetooth pairing, opening the door to more versatile music control. Instead of waiting for your preferred apps to integrate Chromecast or for Google to add compatibility, you could simply couple your phone with Home through Bluetooth and play as you would with any other Bluetooth device. It’s a feature that probably ought to have existed from the beginning. With that disagreement out of the way, Google Home now supports Bluetooth pairing.
We thought we’d walk you through the fairly laborious procedure because setting up Google Home Bluetooth connections isn’t the easiest thing to do right now (we can’t find a voice command to get things starting). There is a Google Home app involved.
Pairing Bluetooth with Google Home instructions
1. Launch the Google Home app (download it if necessary).
2. On the app’s home screen, tap the Devices button in the top right corner.
3. Locate the Google Home that you want to Bluetooth-pair.
4. Press the menu button on it and select “Settings.”
5. Choose “Paired Bluetooth devices” under “Device details.”
On the bottom right corner, click “Enable Pairing Mode.” 7.
7. Next, search for your Google Home device in the Bluetooth settings on your phone. That need to be an option for Bluetooth connections.
8. Tap on it to connect and grant whatever permissions that you are happy to give.
9. That wraps it up! Bluetooth is used to keep you connected.
10. To delete a connected device, you’ll head back into Google Home “Paired Bluetooth devices” and hit the “X” next to devices you wish unpaired.
