In the first trailer for the Marisa Abela biopic “Back to Black,” Amy Winehouse’s life unfolds on the big screen

Marisa Abela assumes the role of the late Amy Winehouse in the forthcoming film Back to Black.

The first teaser trailer for the biopic directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Fifty Shades of Grey) features Industry star Abela in the role of Winehouse, who passed away at the age of 27 due to unintentional alcohol toxicity on July 23, 2011.

With a duration of slightly over one minute, the film provides concise insights into Winehouse’s triumphs and challenges during her ascent from an obscure vocalist to the globally recognized musical icon status. The film’s title was derived from the power lament “Back to Black,” composed by Amy Winehouse.

In addition, the trailer provides insight into Winehouse’s private life, encompassing her intimate bond with her mother Janis Winehouse (portrayed by Lesley Manville of The Crown) and her romantic involvement with Blake Fielder-Civil (portrayed by Skins actor Jack O’Connell).
