Is “Dead to Me” referenced in Christina Applegate’s SAG Awards performance?

On February 26, Christina Applegate and her daughter Sadie Grace LeNoble walked the SAG Awards red carpet together. The mother-daughter duo wore matching tailored outfits, with Applegate donning a navy floor-length dress and LeNoble donning a black suit. Nevertheless, their appearances had another similarity: their distinctive nail art.

Applegate had white nails that were squared-off and rounded. Each fingertip had an abstract pattern that resembled swirling blue smoke, maybe as a tribute to her role as Jen Harding in the Netflix series “Dead to Me.” The nail painting seems to be influenced by the show’s poster, and Applegate was up for best female actor in a comedy series. The manicure for Applegate was made by celebrity manicurist Vanessa Sanchez McCullough utilizing.

The actor has previously employed nail art to convey a message. She sported a “FU MS” manicure in honor of her multiple sclerosis diagnosis, which she initially revealed in August 2021, for her Hollywood Walk of Fame ceremony in November 2022. At the Critics’ Choice Awards in January 2023, Applegate later honored her friendship with Cardellini by donning nail stickers for their respective roles, “Jen” and “Judy,” respectively. Sanchez McCullough also performed those two manicures.

The Los Angeles Times reported that since Applegate is stepping away from the spotlight, the 2023 SAG Awards would probably be the final award ceremony we see Applegate at as an actor.
