Pedro Pascal, Bob Odenkirk, Brian Cox, Jeff Bridges, and Jeremy Strong were also nominees.
It was a memorable evening for the outstanding lead actor at the 2023 Emmy Awards!
Half of the nominations for this year came from Kieran Culkin, Brian Cox, and Jeremy Strong of Succession. Jeff Bridges of The Old Man, Bob Odenkirk of Better Call Saul, and Pedro Pascal of The Last of Us completed the category.
Following the announcement of his victory, which followed eight days of triumphs at the Golden Globe Awards and Critics’ Choice Awards, Culkin, 41, took the stage and shed tears as he expressed gratitude to his mother, “For providing me with life and a wonderful childhood.” Therefore, I express my gratitude for that.”
Jazz Charton, Culkin’s “beautiful wife,” was also acknowledged, “for giving me two incredible children and for sharing your life with me.”
“Jazz, I desire even more.” He concluded, “You said perhaps, if I win!” with a chuckle, as Charton, 35, chuckled and applauded from her seat.
Culkin reprised his role as Roman Roy in the concluding season of Succession, depicting the character’s physical and emotional deterioration from his typically arrogant state.
The actor told the Associated Press the following regarding developing synergy with his co-star J. Smith-Cameron: “It’s a pleasure to work with that woman; I mean, just look at her… it’s a delight. I’ve been acquainted with J for approximately twenty years. “When she was cast in this role, which I believe was originally intended for a man, I was ecstatic.”
