The first trailer for the A24 romantic thriller Love Lies Bleeding depicts Kristen Stewart and Katy O’Brian, who are both preoccupied with murder and love.
The forthcoming film, which is co-written and directed by Rose Glass of Saint Maud’s, will also feature Dave Franco, Ed Harris, Jena Malone, and Anna Baryshnikov. It tells the story of two lovers who become entangled in a succession of violent, gun-filled confrontations.
Lou, portrayed by Stewart, is an introverted gym manager who falls deeply in love with Jackie (O’Brian) once the latter begins exercising at her place of employment. Jackie, a determined bodybuilder, is currently passing through town en route to Las Vegas, where she aspires to compete in a bodybuilding competition.
In the over two-minute trailer, O’Brian’s character is seen applying for a position as a “do anything” woman at Lou’s father’s firing range. This ultimately directs her towards a location where extortion, blood, money, and even homicide are at her discretion. Having entangled Jackie in the criminal network of Lou’s family, she quips, “We’ll simply have to fight back.”
His persona, Baryshnikov, remarked, “It appears that you have a lot on your plate.”
The film, which was initially declared in April 2022 and was co-written by Weronika Tofilska, was co-developed by Film4 and the filmmakers. A24, in collaboration with Andrea Cornwell of Lobo Films and Oliver Kassman of Escape Plan Productions, served as producers.
The film is scheduled to make its Sundance Film Festival premiere in 2024, followed by a general release on March 8, 2024.
