Come on, Barbie, shall we celebrate… in Monte Carlo?
Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling are preparing to return to the big screen as the leads of the impending “Ocean’s Eleven” prequel, following the tremendous success of the “Barbie” film.
In an interview with GamesRadar published on Tuesday, the new film’s producer, Josey McNamara, expressed confidence that Robbie and Gosling will “do right by the franchise.”
“I’m excited for folks to experience it when it’s ready,” he said, adding later, “They’re fantastic together. It would be fantastic if they could complete even more initiatives outside of their remit.
Robbie’s production company, LuckyChap Entertainment, is producing the untitled prequel, which is being directed by “Austin Powers” and “Bombshell” director Jay Roach, who has previously disclosed that the film is set in 1960s Monte Carlo.
The 2001 film “Ocean’s Eleven” starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, and Julia Roberts, and spawned three sequels, including “Ocean’s Eight” starring Sandra Bullock, Rihanna, Anne Hathaway, and others.
The original “Ocean’s Eleven” is a remake of the 1960 Rat Pack-led film of the same name, which starred Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., and Dean Martin. It follows Danny Ocean (Clooney) and ten of his accomplices as they attempt an elaborate heist on a Las Vegas casino run by Andy Garcia’s character Terry Benedict. Roach’s prequel will be the first “Ocean’s” franchise film to be released since “Ocean’s Eight” appeared in theaters in 2018.
Robbie and Gosling’s on-screen chemistry in “Barbie” was unmistakable, and their performances were widely praised by moviegoers and critics. (“Barbie” was produced by Warner Bros. Pictures, which is owned by Warner Bros. Discovery along with CNN.”
The film directed by Greta Gerwig about the iconic Mattel figurine “Barbie” grossed over $1 billion at the box office. It is the highest-grossing film of 2023 thus far.
