Mother Never Comes Home – 23 Years Later, Her Family Discovers Why

Henry, the husband, takes a long-overdue holiday after his last child moves out of the house. He had spent the last 23 years caring for his family alone since his wife, Lucy, mysteriously disappeared. During the flight, Henry feels uneasy and contacts the police, but they cannot find her. Upon arriving at Lake Como, Italy, his favorite place with fond memories of his wife, Henry is struck by a wave of nostalgia and sadness. While exploring the city of Verena, he is suddenly overcome by a familiar smell that triggers memories of his wife. In a frantic search, he locates the source of the smell in a small neighborhood, leading him to an unexpected discovery.

Henry, a man on vacation, is surprised to find the scent of his late wife Lucy’s apple pie coming from a neighbor’s house. The smell brings back strong memories and tears, but also raises questions as the recipe for the pie was believed to be a family secret. Henry, unable to let it go, knocks on the door and is met by a young woman who reveals she learned the recipe from a woman named Lucy by the lake. Henry is shocked to discover that this Lucy is not his wife, but another woman who had lived in the area for years. Confused and determined to find answers, Henry follows the young woman to the lake where he discovers that Lucy had been living there all along. The reunion is unexpected and emotional, leaving Henry with many questions and a newfound sense of discovery.

Henry, who had been separated from his long-lost love and mother of his children, Lucy, for 23 years, finally reunites with her. The emotional reunion takes place at their old home, and Henry is initially overwhelmed with emotions. Lucy reveals that she had met someone else during their last vacation and had returned to Lake Como to raise their child with him, fearing the stigma of having a bastard child. Henry is initially angry but eventually forgives Lucy and they resume their lives together. The family, including children who were babies when Lucy disappeared, adjusts to her return, although some find it difficult.
