One person was killed in a gunshot that occurred after a Christmas morning altercation, according to police.

On Christmas morning in Garland, a gunshot resulted in the death of one individual.

Just before 8:00 a.m. on Christmas morning, the Chandelier Cafe and Lounge on West Walnut Street was the location of a police dispatch.

Fuad Baranja, 34, was discovered in the parking lot with an evident gunshot wound by first responders. Baranja was transported to the hospital on Tuesday morning, where he passed away.

Witnesses informed law enforcement that the gunshot occurred during an altercation.

Johnny Lewis III, age 24, was apprehended and formally accused of murder in connection with the gunshot incident.

Lewis is in the Garland Detention Center, where he is being held without bond.
