Is there anyone who exudes more rockstar energy than Raye, who publicly criticized her record label online before leaving to release music as an independent artist? You might think that true rockstars are those who slam their guitars on stage or throw televisions out of hotel rooms. No, we believe. She therefore made the ideal spokesperson to launch the Press Play campaign for Rockstar energy drink, which aims to encourage people to switch from work to party mode.
Raye tells POPSUGAR, “I don’t feel like I am a rockstar, even though I do love that energy on stage, where you usually get to feel free and wild and there are no rules or restrictions and you can just fully let go. But I suppose this as well. She recently released her debut album, “My 21st Century Blues,” and is currently enjoying the success of her self-made single, “Escapsim,” featuring 070 Shake. “It still feels incredible. it has taken a while, “she claims. “Sincerely, I’m just incredibly thankful — exhausted, but incredibly thankful. It has been breathtaking but also very overwhelming.”
She is undoubtedly exhausted from handling everything herself, but because of her wild past, she is able to tolerate a few occasional late nights. She once spent a full 72 hours partying after forgetting her passport in Ibiza. I simply made it function. In those 72 hours, I lost my voice, my headphones, and everything else,” she chuckles. “I needed a week and a half to regain my voice, specifically my talking voice. I won’t ever stay up for that long again.
Fans and friends rushed to Raye’s defense when she brazenly tweeted that she and her record label, Polydor, would be at their breaking point in June 2021. “I’m sick and tired of being slept on.”
Of being in pain about it this is not business to me this so personal,” she wrote. While her outpouring of emotion took courage, resilience, and a whole lot of self-belief, the biggest lesson she has learned through it all is to trust your gut. “I feel like inside of this we all have innate feelings of whether something’s right for us or wrong for us. Something we feel passionate about or inspired by, or the opposite,” she says.
