When she read about Rich Paul’s Ohio upbringing in his new autobiography, his companion Adele was affected emotionally by the childhood trauma he described.
Paul, a longstanding friend and business partner of NBA superstar LeBron James, wrote in his forthcoming book, “Lucky Me: A Memoir of Changing the Odds,” about his mother’s struggles with drug addiction and life in a violent Cleveland neighborhood during the 1980s and 1990s.
Paul’s tumultuous upbringing prevented him from enjoying the carefree years of childhood, which he claimed was difficult for Adele to comprehend.
“It was very emotional,” he told People prior to the book’s Oct. 10 release. I believe that much of it struck close to home, so yes, it was a challenging read for her.
Paul stated that he is currently “happy in all aspects” of his life, but while writing the book, he revisited some difficult instances in his past with his mother.
“As a child, I erected this barrier so that I could move forward with the knowledge that she would not be there,” he explained. “Like, Mom is not coming home.”
Reliving and writing about his mother’s struggles “was one of the most difficult things I’ve ever had to do,” he told People.
Adele also dealt with the frequent absence of her father, Mark Evans, throughout her existence. She told Vogue that she reconciled with her father before his cancer-related death in 2021.
Since 2021, Adele has been associated to the NBA agent.
“I’m just in loooove!” Adele told Elle about her relationship in August 2022. “I’m as content as I’ll ever be. I could just as well be wedded.”
Paul and Adele began publicly dating in 2021, shortly after Adele’s return to prominence with new music. The album “30” was her first in six years. It was believed that the album’s lyrics referenced her 2019 divorce from Simon Konecki, with whom she shares a son named Angelo.
Since then, the couple has been in the public view, appearing at Adele’s Las Vegas residency and attending basketball games together.

He is one of the most prominent NBA sports agents.
Forbes recognized Paul as one of the industry’s most influential sports agents. In addition to LeBron James and Anthony Davis of the Los Angeles Lakers, Klutch Sports Group represents Lonzo Ball and Zach LaVine of the Chicago Bulls.
According to a 2002 profile in The New Yorker, Paul’s career was bolstered by an accidental encounter with the legendary LeBron James outside the Akron, Ohio airport.
Paul is publishing a memoir about his youth. “Lucky Me” is about his infancy in Cleveland and will be published by Jay Z’s Penguin Random House imprint, Roc Lit 101.
The official description, written in Paul’s voice, sets up the memoir: “I spent the early years of my life sleeping on floors and couches, running the streets as my mother coped with the challenges of a drug addiction. Some say I now own the most influential and culturally significant sports agency in the United States, and I do business with some of the largest corporations and most influential individuals in the world. Back on my street, no one could have foreseen this. My trajectory is only meant for Ivy League types, exceptional athletes, or entertainers — not someone who is five feet eight inches tall and grew up with a pair of dice in one hand and a pistol in the other.'”
Paul stated to GQ that he had “always wanted” to compose a memoir. “Education, knowledge, and sharing of life experiences are, in my opinion, the true form of giving back.” “In the modern world, individuals only perceive the highlights. And the highlights do not inherently define a person. “It’s their resilience, their perseverance, and their ability to get back up after falling,” he said.
