Tell us: what are some questions you’d like to ask the next members of Boston’s City Council

This is a significant election year for local politics, especially at the municipal level, and it begins with the city council. On November 7, voters will choose who they want to represent them on the Boston City Council for Districts 3, 5, 6, and 7, in addition to selecting four city councillors to represent the city at large.

These are the five regional concerns that readers are most concerned about.
As we head into the home stretch of the campaign to elect the next members of the Boston City Council, people are being forced to make choices regarding who they intend to vote for and why.

In the preliminary municipal elections held on September 12, Kendra Lara, the incumbent city councillor for District 6, and Ricardo Arroyo, the incumbent city councillor for District 5, both failed in their attempts to be reelected.

Because of this, the candidates who received the most votes in the primary election will face off against one another in the general election on November 7. The following individuals are still running for a seat on the City Council and you can vote for them below.

John FitzGerald and Joel Richards are competing to represent District 3.
Enrique José Pepén takes on Jose Ruiz in the battle for District 5.
Benjamin Weber and William King are competing to represent District 6.
Tania Fernandes Anderson, the current representative for District 7, is running against Althea Garrison.
In addition, there will be eight candidates vying for four open seats on the council during the election in November:
