Texas ‘Super Lawyer’ David Finn Named 21st Year in a Row by Dallas Clients

David Finn, a criminal defense attorney headquartered in Dallas, has been named one of the state’s “Super Lawyers” for the past 21 years running. The veteran criminal defense attorney has an impressive resume that includes this most recent peer-reviewed award.

“I am incredibly grateful for this rating,” Finn expressed. “Similarly, seeing ’21 years’ on the commendation is really astounding to me. We at my firm devote ourselves fully to our work every single day, and before you realize it, we’ve been dedicated to our clients for decades.

After earning his J.D. in 1991, Finn quickly moved through the ranks to assistant district attorney in Tarrant County and later served as a federal prosecutor for the US Attorney’s Office in the Northern District of Texas. Before deciding to focus on criminal defense, he was elected to the position of criminal trial judge in Dallas in 1999.

While working as a prosecutor, Finn gained invaluable knowledge of the criminal justice system, which he now uses to fiercely advocate for his clients. As a result of his bravery, expertise, and demeanor, he is known as a formidable defense attorney.

The distinction of “Super Lawyers” serves as evidence of this. Thomson Reuters’ Super Lawyers ranks the best attorneys in each state and publishes their names on an annual basis. As part of its stringent screening process, it has other lawyers in the same field evaluate each nominee and does independent research on each candidate.

Candidates for Super Lawyers are evaluated based on twelve criteria, including their certifications, client representation, verdicts and settlements, and years of experience. The selection process for the Super Lawyers list is rigorous, and only the most exceptional lawyers are considered for inclusion.

Just making the cut is an accomplishment for Finn. In 2003, when I initially appeared on Super Lawyers, my criminal defense practice was in its infancy. I was putting in a lot of time with my team, but when I saw the trophy, I realized we were making progress. “We’re carrying out our duties.”

Countless triumphs on both the state and federal levels have been the outcome of Finn’s criminal defense work. Criminal appeals, drug crime defense, white-collar crime cases, cases involving minors, driving while intoxicated defense, and many more fall within this category.

In addition to Super Lawyers, he has received other accolades for his exceptional work as a lawyer. He received the highest possible peer evaluation from legal information provider Martindale-Hubbell, a “AV-Preeminent” rating. Avvo, another service that recommends lawyers, also awarded him a perfect score of 10. He has also been named by his peers as one of Dallas’s top attorneys for fourteen consecutive years by D Magazine.

Due to his impressive resume and outstanding performance both inside and outside of the courtroom, Finn is often asked by various media outlets and legal groups to share his expertise. His last public remarks were in support of reforming the “broken” juvenile justice system in Dallas County, which landed him in the spotlight in Dallas newspapers.

“The focus of my practice is not awards, but my clients,” Finn stated. “I’m just grateful that my peers recognize my work.”
