Although though it may seem as though the world is fractured, difficult, and uncertain, it is a wonder that despite having just been physically separated, we were able to come together and connect with one another. It demonstrates that nothing can stop it if enough people are prepared to collaborate in harmony on a global scale.
We need to start by thinking about what it is that leads to the discord in our relationships in the first place. Often, the first reaction to this is to place the blame for whatever disturbance we perceive to be on the other people. Therefore, any discord actually originates from within, not from the outside.
Conflict can be a tremendous blessing because it teaches me what I need to do to improve within, which will lead to some healing and community. We thus consider what is responsible for our feelings. Then we realize that our feelings are brought on by the thoughts we have. What I think about what is being said or done has nothing to do with what is being said or done.
We must take on the role of the charitable observer in order to see clearly. To get up a little bit, as if from a balcony, and observe my interactions. This will enable me to fully appreciate the profound transformation that is required.I only realize that nothing originates from somewhere else than within me when I’m alone. I then realize that I am the only one who can make myself happy or miserable, which is incredibly freeing. All of my connections will now be illuminated by this insight. I also start to realize who I truly am when I silently watch the thinking patterns that underlie my emotions. In actuality, our lack of self-awareness is the only true global catastrophe. We are energy, light, and consciousness. We are everlasting, genderless, and nameless. This awareness leads me into a state of quiet where I can establish a connection with the Absolute Being, God, the origin of all love and perfect harmony.
When I connect to this Being in meditation, then an inner harmony begins to develop. Slowly at first, but little by little, the disunity between the head and the heart slowly dissolves and all the old hurts and conflicts begin to leave me and are no longer important, no longer have any significance at all.
All of life is relationship. What is there apart from the relationship with the self, with those around me, with all of the natural world and ultimately, with The Divine? That is all there is. So let me be one who begins the transformation to harmony, and know that all our relationships will finally heal, with the wonder of the power of the Divine, of God.
