Miley Cyrus confirmed her return to the Disney family with a new music special called Miley Cyrus — Endless Summer Vacation (Backyard Sessions), which will air on Disney+ on March 10 at 1 p.m. ET/10 a.m. PT.
On the show, Cyrus will give the first public performances of songs from her upcoming album Endless Summer Vacation (also out March 10). Her most recent hit, “Flowers,” as well as seven other songs from the record, a unique collaboration with Rufus Wainwright, and one vintage hit will all be performed during the show. The iconic song she’ll play is “The Climb,” she said on Sunday, March 5.
It’s been 14 years since the release of The Climb,” she wrote on Twitter, sharing a preview video of her singing a portion of the song. Hannah Montana: The Movie, which was released in 2009, featured her popular song “The Climb” on its soundtrack.
The special will also include an interview with Cyrus that was filmed in the same home where she shot the music video for “Flowers,” in addition to all the music (which is also where Frank Sinatra used to live).
The Endless Summer Vacation series sees singer Miley Cyrus resurrecting her long-running (albeit occasional) “Backyard Sessions” series in addition to rejoining with Disney, where she first rose to fame as the star of Hannah Montana. The first of these private concerts took place in 2012, and Cyrus revived the series in 2015 to mark the opening of her Happy Hippie Foundation. During the epidemic and while she launched her album Plastic Hearts in late 2020, she brought it back.
The “Backyard Sessions” have often featured Cyrus performing various covers alongside her own material. Some of her covers over the years include the Replacements’ “Androgynous,” Against Me!’s “True Trans Soul Rebel” (which she performed with Laura Jane Grace), Paul Simon’s “50 Ways to Leave Your Lover,” and Nico’s Jackson Browne-penned classic “These Days.”
