The search for the Garland convenience store shooter who killed three adolescents continues two years later

Two years have passed since Xavier Gonzalez purchased tacos for his family at a convenience store in Garland. The fourteen-year-old never returned home.

“Christmas is not the same for us,” Lluneli Lopez, Xavier’s mother, explained. “Because we have an empty spot.”

Xavier’s mother attained knowledge that her son was fatally shot on the evening of December 26, 2021. Garland police believe that Abel Acosta, age 14, was responsible.

Lopez stated, “It is not fair how they took his life.” “It’s been hard for us that he’s not here.”

Abel, according to the police, also fatally shot Rafael Garcia, 17, and Ivan Noyola, 16. Prior to this, the two adolescents were engaged in a dispute with Abel. Xavier was not involved in that in any way. Without culpability, he was a bystander.

“When I drive by there, I don’t even look up,” Lopez said. “I just try to look somewhere else or try to not even go through there at all.”

Xavier’s family wants to remind the public to call police if they know where Abel is hiding.

“So he can pay for what he did,” Lopez said.
