Anderson Cooper, the 54-year-old CNN anchor, never thought he’d become a father when he was a child. Reflecting on his younger years, he revealed that being gay made him believe he would never have the chance to have children. Fast forward 40 years, and Cooper is now the proud father of two sons.
In April 2020, Cooper welcomed his first son, Wyatt Morgan, into the world. Wyatt’s name is a tribute to Cooper’s late father, Wyatt Emory Cooper, and the family name Morgan, which was considered for Cooper himself. Despite his initial lack of confidence in his parenting skills, Cooper expressed his love for everything about being a father.
Before Wyatt’s birth, Cooper acquired parenting books with the intention of reading them. However, he humorously admitted on Ellen DeGeneres’ EllenTube that he never actually read any of them. Despite his uncertainty, Cooper found joy in parenting and appreciated the support from his ex-partner, Benjamin Maisani, who co-parents with him.

Sebastian, born healthy and happy, joined the family, and Maisani was in the process of adopting Wyatt. Cooper shared that Maisani, despite being his ex, is his best friend and an excellent co-parent.
