Vigil for 21-year-old Dallas man killed in his Ross Ave. apartment, no arrests made

On Tuesday, friends and relatives convened outside of Carlos Rogue’s new apartment in Dallas to express their sorrow over his passing. Rogue, who was 21 years old at the time, had moved away from his family in order to begin his life.

How is it possible for him to separate himself from our family, move out into his own apartment, and then experience something like this a month later? We are looking for justice in regard to it. According to his aunt Victoria Barrera, “We are interested in finding out who it was.”

On New Year’s Day, at approximately three o’clock in the afternoon, Dallas police officers went to a shooting complaint at the Macallan on Ross apartment complex. When they arrived, they discovered Rogue dead from gunshot wounds.

According to Barrera, “it was inside of his apartment, and his money and jewelry were stolen,” when asked about the theft.

There are still questions regarding the events that led up to the shooting, as well as whether or not the suspect was captured on video by surveillance cameras located within the complex.

“If it was inside his apartment, it was either someone who lives here or someone who is close to him,” said Barrera. “If it was both, then it was within his apartment.”

A statement made by Vanessa Barrera was, “He was my best friend.” It was as if my heart and soul were walking outside of my body all at the same time.

A request for comment from NBC 5 has not been met with a response from the facility.

North Texas was Rogue’s home of childhood. In addition to being inseparable from his mother, Vanessa, his family claims that he worked in the construction and accounting industries.
