A molecular diagnostics start-up named Nanopath has been selected as the competition’s first winner. Nanopath will receive 30 EVOLVE manual pipettes to help the business develop its innovative technology and bring the procedure to the clinic.
With a novel diagnostics platform that forgoes the PCR amplification steps and enables rapid testing closer to the point of care, Nanopath aims to challenge conventional testing procedures for women in outpatient settings.
The Nanopath team was already automating the liquid handling workflows that support its technology with the ASSIST PLUS pipetting robot and the VOYAGER adjustable tip spacing pipette, and this positive experience prompted the team to submit an application for the INTEGRA prize: Beginning with these products had a real impact on a small business like ours.
Early on, we were able to significantly boost throughput, allowing us to run four times as many patient samples per day while maintaining high accuracy. For young companies like ours, developing a relationship with a helpful supplier like INTEGRA is invaluable, so we wholeheartedly urge other creative disruptors in the biotechnology industry to apply to this program.
