As part of the MLS U-22 Initiative, FC Dallas has signed Romanian winger Enes Sali to a four-year contract with a one-year club option. After two years with FCV Farul Constanța of the SuperLiga, the highest level of men’s soccer in Romania, Sali joins Dallas. As soon as his P-1 Visa and International Transfer Certificate (ITC) are received, Sali will be assigned to an international roster position.
Sali, age 17, joins FC Dallas after playing for Farul Constanta for the previous two seasons. August 9, 2021, at the age of 15 years, 6 months, and 6 days, Sali debuted professionally with Farul. Sali achieved his inaugural professional goal on September 13, 2021, at the age of 15 years, six months, and 21 days, thereby becoming the youngest player to score in the SuperLiga. In 56 appearances for the Romanian club across all competitions, Sali recorded four goals and two assists.
Before transferring to Farul Constanta (formerly known as Viitorul Constanta), Sali competed for Barca Escola Barcelona during the 2015-16 season. At the age of eight, he was observed at a Barca Academy Camp in Toronto, Canada in the winter of 2014. Sali subsequently enrolled at the Gheorghe Hagi Football Academy, which Hagi himself had established.
Sali represents Romania at the international level and, at 15 years, 8 months, and 22 days, became the youngest player to make his debut for the Romania national team when he joined the Tricolorii on November 14, 2021 in a World Cup qualifier against Liechtenstein. Sali entered the 21st century as the second-youngest European international debutant. Sali most recently represented Romania’s U19 squad against Finland, San Marino, and the Czech Republic in the UEFA Euro U19 Championship Qualifiers.
The English publication The Guardian ranked Sali among the top players born in 2006 globally on October 11, 2023.
