We need to be careful on buying products because sometimes some products that has a good packaging has a harmful solution. Yes the packaging is pleasing but we are not always sure on what chemical is inside that product that can harm you.
Yes, but what this 49-year-old woman was buying at her local Walmart landed her in prison and she reportedly faced up to 10 years behind bars, officials say.
The 49-year-old shopper, later identified as Rebeca, went to her local Walmart with a clear objective for her shopping trip. Even though she could’ve bought whatever she wanted at the store, what she really wanted was something that couldn’t be found on any shelf.
Per reports, the woman reportedly approached a mother who was with her child at Walmart and offered to pay the woman cash for custody of the baby. While the mother was using the self-checkout counter, Rebeca approached and asked to buy her baby. The mother had both an infant and a 1-year-old toddler with her when this occurred. Rebeca reportedly said she loved the baby’s blonde hair and blue eyes, then inquired about how much money the mother would want for the infant. The mother’s initial reaction was to laugh, thinking it must be a joke. But Rebeca persisted and made it clear she was willing to pay a large sum of money for the baby. In fact, she had $250,000 in her car parked nearby.
Rebeca kept trying to make the purchase even after being told by the mother to stop and leave her child alone. According to an affidavit, this wasn’t Rebeca’s first time attempting such an action; she had been wanting to buy a baby for quite some time now. Fortunately, the mother was able to persuade or fool Rebeca into leaving the store. As the mother and her children left Walmart, the shopper angrily called out to them from across the parking lot. She offered to pay $500,000 for their blonde-haired, blue-eyed baby boy – saying she was willing to half a million dollars because she wanted him and she was going to take him.
When the mother heard this, she called the police immediately to report what had happened. Rebeca was then arrested authorities and was charged with purchasing a child- something that is considered a third-degree felony where they live. If convicted, she could spend up to ten years in a corrections facility and owe a fine of $10,000. The 49-year-old shopper posted a $50,000 bond and was released from the Sheriff’s Office after her arrest. She explained to the Sheriff’s Office that she was an attorney and she wanted a child, so she offered to buy one. Rebeca stated her goal was to get the mother top selling her child for $500,000.
