It’s true, another live-action Disney remake of a beloved children’s film is in the works. A Disney+ original named “Peter Pan & Wendy,” described as a live-action adaptation of J.M. Barrie’s novel and the 1953 animated classic “Peter Pan,” will be released after the 2022 “Pinocchio” remake. The titular characters in the new rendition, played by Alexander Molony and Ever Anderson, will transport audiences to the well-known Neverland in a way that has never been done before.
Walt Disney Studios debuted the first full teaser for the upcoming remake on February 28. It teases a big adventure with Anderson’s Wendy and Molony’s Peter after Wendy unintentionally finds herself on the shores of Neverland, also known as the “lost boys’ paradise.” From there, admirers get to know Tinkerbell, played by Yara Shahidi.
Wendy and Peter Pan “is one of the most recent live-action adaptations of classic stories like “Beauty and the Beast” and “The Little Mermaid,” directed by David Lowery. It also comes out after Joe Wright’s “Pan” (2015) and Steven Spielberg’s “Hook” (1991), both of which are remakes of the original Walt Disney movie and are based on Barrie’s early 1900s work.
According to People, Lowery said in a statement, “We set out to craft a film with ‘Peter Pan & Wendy’ that honors both the original J.M. Barrie text and Walt Disney’s animated adaptation. We wanted to invigorate our retelling with emotional sincerity, an open heart, and a grand yearning for adventure. “This movie was created over many years by hundreds of amazing artists. I’m eager.
