The top 10 queries on Google in 2022: the World Cup, Wordle, and Queen Elizabeth are popular search phrases

Wordle topped the rankings for this year, according to a list of Google’s most searched terms for 2022. The executives of the search engine released the findings of its annual “year in search” report, which categorizes the most frequently entered phrases into categories including news, people, and sports, with the New York Times’ word game taking first place overall.

The Google search results revealed that despite the continuing conflict in Ukraine and the death of Queen Elizabeth, more individuals were searching for Wordle. The daily word game gained enormous traction following its release at the end of last year, and Google recently referred to it as “a way of life for certain people” in a statement.
Seven of the top ten most-searched word definitions in 2022 were Wordle responses, including the words canny, foray, tacit, saute, trove, and cacao. Wordle has also dominated other Google statistics. Josh Wardle, a software developer, founded Wordle in 2021. He claims he did it to keep himself and his partner occupied during the Covid epidemic.
